Little Lucas

Well Lucas is now a week old and seems like things are finally starting to calm down a bit. Life with 3 kids has definitely been an adjustment. Im grateful that I have great kids and a awesome husband that help me so much.
Here's a little info on Lucas and how the delivery went.
Lucas had a little of a struggle in the beginning starting from being Transverse during delivery. He was pretty much sideways and in my rips. It was a surprise because the day before during the ultrasound with the Dr he was head down. He also had the cord wrapped around his neck twice which didn't make it any easier for the Dr's to take him out.

I had really awesome nurses this time around and that made everything a lot easier. I talked to one of the nurses about scrapbooking and so she took our camera and got some awesome pictures that I didn't have with Kaelyn and Enzo. She also got Mark to cut the cord, which was a first for him, and Mark did it because he knew I wanted him to!

After surgery I waited for Lucas in recovery. Then the nurse came in with Mark and told me that Lucas had a lot of fluid in his lungs which was causing irregular breathing so they were going to take him to the nursery for a bit to watch him. At this point the most I had seen him was 10 Min's. Well a while later after I was settled in my room the pediatrician came in and told me that Lucas was going to need to be on a IV because they were worried about his left Lung that was full of Liquid and they were worried about it being infected. It was pretty scary when they told me but having Mark there with me made it easier. It was a weird feeling being in the hospital and in pain and not having a baby with you to take care of. That night Mark went and talked to the nurses in the nursery to see if maybe I could come to the Nursery to see him since I really hadn't and so I could try to nurse him and maybe hold him. They let me in around 2:30 that night and I was so happy to finally be able to look at my new baby. They also let me hold him which was pretty awesome. We were able to be with him around an hour and then put him back and headed back to our room. It was strange being able to actually sleep but of course I couldn't sleep very well worried about Lucas.
Lucas was doing very well the next day and the awesome nurse that I loved let Lucas come to our room for an hour so that Kaelyn could hold him and some family members. They were mostly worried about his IV and that something might happen to it. As you can see from the pictures Mark posted Kaelyn just lights up when she holds her baby brother. She almost gets giddy in a way just adoring him.

Enzo is still getting used to the fact that he has a baby brother. Today he asked Lucas if he wanted to play with his cars which made me want to cry. That's pretty special for him to ask! I cant wait to dress the boys alike and to watch both of them watch their dad out the window as he drives off in his camaro.
Well Lucas was getting better everyday and Sunday they took out his IV but told us we were going to have to stay an extra night to make sure everything was ok. Which was fine. At least he was able to stay in our room now.
The next morning Lucas was doing great. Lucas has Jaundice but because the sun was out the Dr amazingly let us go home. Which yesterday he told us we were very lucky that he let us leave because he had a baby that morning that had a lower jaundice level and he made the baby stay in the hospital.
So now we are enjoying being at home and all we have to do is find the sun and put Lucas in it. He is doing so good and I feel so blessed that he is ok. I think of moms that have their babies go through worse and I cant imagine going through it.

Mark and I had our 8 year wedding anniversary on Monday. Even though we didn't get to do much I feel so blessed to be married to such a great guy. He honors his priesthood and is such a great dad and is my best friend. I love you Mark thank you for being you and being wonderful.

Ok yeah an awful picture but I love pictures of families with their new babies in the hospital. Hopefully we can get a new family picture soon to replace this one!
